POST GAME REVIEW: PHILIPPINES ARMY VS MANILA MONTET

CHALLENGES AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Given our previous match performances and the fact that we were missing most of our usual defenders, we knew this game would be challenging. That being said, the Army played an excellent match, and we are very happy for them that they won; they deserved it. Since the beginning of the season, they should have had more points. It has been a delight to see the excellent relationship throughout this game between the two teams and players. We will talk about this in more detail tomorrow. There’s heartfelt love between our two clubs.

LEARNING FOR THE FUTURE

Despite the result, this game will remain a great memory for our players and our freshly created club. We are learning from each match. It’s true that it’s difficult and that we haven’t reached the level we had hoped for. The team’s performance might seem disappointing considering the individual quality of some of our players. Individually, our players can be good, but they haven’t yet developed the chemistry needed to form a good team.

BALL POSSESSION AND STRATEGY

At halftime, ball possession was close to 50-50. Unfortunately, our possession was clearly ineffective, contrary to the Army who moved faster towards our goal. Our players tend to make too many passes and hold onto the ball without being effective. We need to work on this aspect to make our possession more productive and create more goal-scoring opportunities.

FAN SUPPORT AND POSITIVE TAKEAWAYS

We still take the positives: around fifteen fans came to support us in our fan zone in the bleacher. Yes, we usually have 50+ fans, but it was a mid-week game and it has been raining al afternoon, and all seats were wet, so we will take 15 as a positive number especially in the context of Filipino football. Fans were understandably a bit disappointed, but they kept supporting our boys all the way. Yesterday was also the occasion to see a new captain, a new striker, and our third goalkeeper of the season in action, and they all did well. 🥰
